Don’t freak out, it’s only Thanksgiving! I’m sorry if that hurt your feelings… but sometimes we need a reminder that just because it’s a holiday doesn’t mean you have to abandon all of your healthy eating habits. While this holiday is, for mot people, a day to over-indulge in some of your favorite foods that doesn’t mean you have to indulge so much you regret everything.
There are ways to be responsible on this delicious day… here are some tips:

A lot of us eat really well- Almost all organic, non-GMO, natural, healthy… but WHY is that healthy? What is the big deal with “Non-GMO”? First, let’s touch on what GMOs are: GMOs, or “Genetically Modified Organisms” are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated through genetic engineering in a laboratory… not out in nature. Creating GMOs is a relatively new science and doing so creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and even viral genes that do NOT occur in nature.

With the holiday’s around the corner, staying on track can be a scary and somewhat daunting thought. There’s halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s…..all the holidays that involve food, drinks, and festivities. It’s the time of year where the weather gets cooler, and we love to be comforted by sweet treats and savory meals. In my opinion it is the best time of year because we are reminded of the joy of family and friends.

After the birth of my son, my hair started falling out. At first, it was no big deal. I mean, as a curly haired girl, I’ve been known to clog a few drains in my day.
BUT… this was different… the hair was falling out at the root and when I ran my fingers through my hair while washing, I easily pulled out clumps of hair. It was a nightmare but I knew there was a way to reverse it.

Have you ever heard the quote, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” by Jim Rohn? He has a point – the people we are around have a lot of influence on us, whether we are aware of it or not. One of the best things I have ever done for myself when it comes to self care and changing negative self talk to positive self talk was I really paid attention not only to the people that I surrounded myself with in person, but also the people I surrounded myself with on social media. You may not realize this, but the people you surround yourself with on social media can actually make a big impact on how you feel about yourself.

When we exercise we create muscle tears because we are straining our muscles. These micro tears are what make our muscles tender after a good workout and in order for us to get stronger we need our torn muscles to heal- which takes time. This rest time is usually why people separate what part of the body they’re focusing on day by day in the gym, (ex: Monday-Arms & Back, Tuesday- Legs, Wednesday- Cardio, etc.) or work out every other day and having an active rest day in between training days.

Grocery Shopping can be a little daunting, especially if you’re buying for more than just yourself! Here I wrote a list of rules I tend to stick by when grocery shopping. These really help to make my trips quicker and more efficient, not to mention help me stay on track with my health and fitness goals! Hopefully my little guideline helps you to get a bit organized, make healthier choices, and not dread grocery shopping so much!
