Mesquite powder is SO good- it’s definitely in my top 3 favorite superfoods! Mesquite powder is a source of protein providing the useful amino acids that our bodies need for numerous functions. These amino acids are the building blocks of healthy, lean muscle and can help support an active immune system. It is so versatile you can pretty much use it with anything. It has a very sweet, nutty, roasted, slight BBQ aroma and can be used in both hot and cold recipes. Traditionally, mesquite was used to thicken and enhance the flavor of soups which is, of course, delicious- and easy! You can also use it as a seasoning for roasted nuts and other snacks, or blend it with other herbs and spices to make a very tasty and nutrient dense rub for those days you feel like firing up the grill. Spiced muffins and breads are what I call the “dream team” when made with mesquite. Oh- you could even add it to your favourite pumpkin pie recipe! It really does have a lot of room for experimenting, so grab a bag and get crafty…. you wont be disappointed.
