Easy Superfood Marinades

These easy superfood marinades are perfect for BBQ season... or any season really! These will quickly become a staple for any household- and for good reason! They're delicious, easy to make, and packed with nutrient dense superfoods! Win-win-win!

Ingredients

MESQUITE BBQ SAUCE

  • 2 Tbsp MRM Mesquite superfood powder
  • 1/2 tsp Olive or Coconut oil
  • 2 Cloves minced garlic
  • 1/4 Cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 15oz Can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Tomato paste
  • 3 Tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Coconut aminos (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Ground pepper
  • Dash of cinnamon

MORINGA AND CILANTRO MARINADE

  • 1 Bunch cilantro
  • 1 Tbsp MRM Moringa superfood powder
  • 3 Cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 Lime, zest only
  • 1 Tbsp fresh grated ginger
  • 1 Cup Olive oil
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • A few sprigs of thyme

BAOBAB LEMON BUTTER

  • 2 Sticks of preferred butter
  • 1 Lemon, zest only
  • 2 Tbsp Capers roughly chopped
  • 1 Shallot, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp MRM Baobab superfood powder
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Dill, roughly chopped
  • Pinch of sea salt

Directions

MESQUITE BBQ SAUCE
  1. Option 1: Buy your favorite BBQ sauce and simply stir in 2 Tbsp of MRM Mesquite superfood powder.
  2. Option 2: In a medium-sized pot heat the oil to medium heat and add garlic and onion. Gently cook for 3-4 minutes, or until softened and translucent but not brown.
  3. Add all the dried spices and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add all remaining ingredients and stir thoroughly. Bring to a boil then immediately reduce the heat to a slow and steady simmer.
  5. Simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until thickened to the desired consistency.
  6. Pass through a sieve for a really smooth texture and add any extra seasoning you prefer. Allow to cool completely before refrigerating and using!
MORINGA & CILANTRO MARINADE
  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until combined.
  2. Pour over chicken or vegetable kabobs and let marinate for 8-12 hours. The longer the marinade time the better the flavor! (You can let marinate for up to 3 days!)
BAOBAB LEMON BUTTER
  1. Allow butter to soften to room temperature.
  2. Mix all ingredients together with the softened butter and store in an air-tight container until needed.
  3. This works best as a sauce to brush onto fish while grilling/cooking rather than a marinade.
