Fudgy Vegan Dark Chocolate-Mocha Pronuts

America is well-known for its fried-dough confectionery in the form of a donut, which many of us have enjoyed alongside a hot coffee at Dunkins. Unfortunately, conventional fried donuts contain unhealthy saturated and trans fats that raise bad cholesterol and can lead to heart disease. For all the donut-lovers out there, I have good news! These Fudgy Chocolate-Mocha Pronuts are naturally sweetened by applesauce, and are made from just a handful of healthy ingredients.

Ingredients

 

  • 1 scoop MRM Veggie Meal Replacement Chocolate Mocha
  • 2 tbsp carob or cocoa powder
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ¼ tsp baking powder

Directions

 
  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • Grease or spray a mini donut pan and set aside
  • Sift protein powder, carob/cocoa, and baking powder into a mixing bowl
  • Add the applesauce and stir with a spatula until completely combined and a thick batter forms
  • Scoop into a plastic ziplock sandwich bag and snip one corner to make a “piping” tool
  • Pipe the batter into each donut mold to make 9 donuts
  • Bake for 12 -14 minutes until the tops look firm
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes before taking the donuts out of the pan (they continue to cook and set as they cool).
  • Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze if you make a larger batch!
