MSM is an organic source of the important nutrient sulfur. Sulfur is involved in the metabolism of at least 150 critically important molecules in the body and dietary sources may not be sufficient to ensure all these requirements are met. For example, because sulfur is necessary for the formation of connective tissue, MSM has been widely studied for its use in optimizing joint health. Research studies have shown that MSM has the ability to promote respiratory health and support various reactions to foods and pollen.
MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane), an organic source of sulfur, is a direct metabolite of DMSO (Dimethyl-sulfoxide). Sulfur is structurally and functionally important in more than 150 compounds in the body including enzymes, hormones, antibodies, and free radical scavengers. Sulfur containing compounds such as N-Acetyl-Cysteine and reduced-glutathione are powerful antioxidants and have shown to support immune and joint health. Sulfur is necessary for the production of the disulfide bonds that are responsible for the rigidity and strength of connective tissue.
