Getting the right amount or ratio of good fats can be hard to do by a whole foods diet alone. We developed MRM’s Smart Blend® to provide the necessary fats in a ratio that balances your diet, so you can receive the benefits these good fats have to offer.
Because your body does not manufacture essential fatty acids on its own, Smart Blend® provides the necessary fatty acids that have been shown to be deficient in the Standard American Diet. Knowing the importance of essential fatty acids (EFAs) in maximizing the positive benefits of exercise and health, we have formulated an extremely unique fatty acid supplement.*
Smart Blend® provides support for weight management, hormone balance, joint and cardiovascular health due to its thorough formula.* This mixture provides the optimal blend of marine oil from small fish (anchovies, mackerel, and sardines) containing EPA and DHA in a precise ratio. We use oil from small fish because they are more sustainable and less likely to contain toxins that larger, older fish can accumulate.
Conjugated Linoleic Acid(CLA) is a naturally occurring beneficial fatty acid often found in meat and dairy products, but it’s difficult to get an effective amount of active CLA isomers through diet alone. Since its discovery in 1978, CLA’s health benefits have been well documented, supporting that it should be a part of any healthy lifestyle of regular exercise and a balanced diet.*
GLA (Gamma Linoleic Acid) is a necessary step in the production of “good” prostaglandins. Good prostaglandins support cardiovascular, joint and immune health. They also elicits powerful antioxidant activity.*
Regular supplementation with Smart Blend™ ensures a complete mixture of essential fatty acids as omega-3 (DHA and EPA), omega-6 (CLA and GLA).
Omega-3 fatty acids, Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) are polyunsaturated fatty acids, which means they contain more than one double bond. As a fatty acid this makes them “flexible” and more versatile than saturated fats that contain no double bonds and have carbon backbone that is fully saturated with hydrogen ions. Their unique structures allow them to be very versatile. While humans can produce them from Alpha Linoleic Acid (ALA), the conversion rate is poor, which results in a need to get them from dietary sources (supplementation or whole food).
The benefits of EPA and DHA range from cardiovascular and joint health to brain health and their mechanism of actions are just as varied. They get incorporated into cell membranes increasing cell membrane fluidity and structure. They have been shown to signal certain gene expression and are deeply involved in the human inflammation response. These lipid mediators have consistently proven their necessity and are continually evaluated for their various biological activities which benefit human health.
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a naturally occurring nutrient found in milk, cheese, and beef. While there are many forms of CLA, research has indicated that there are two specific CLA isomers that have benefit, both of which can be found in Smart Blend®.
Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) form borage oil is an omega-6 fatty acid. Often times we get too many omega-6 fats in our diet, which can be a bad thing, but GLA is definitely one that we want. In the body it gets converted into dihomo-gamma-linoleic acid (DGLA), making it a very anti-inflammatory signaling molecule. Its importance in the inflammation cascade makes it an omega-6 fat that is heads above the rest and helps balance out this formula.
What is the suggested daily usage?
Take 2 softgels with a meal up to 3 times daily. For maximum benefits, take 4 softgels up to 3 times daily or as directed by your qualified healthcare provider.
